  Independent Medical Examinations (IME)

An Independent Medical Examination (IME) is an impartial assessment performed by a SIRA accredited medical expert within the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme. A referral to an IME occurs when medical information is inadequate, unavailable or inconsistent, and the referrer has been unable to resolve the problem directly with the practitioners.

The Assessment will include:

  • Advice on accepting the claim
  • Insurers ongoing liability
  • Workers level of capacity for employment
  • Ongoing treatment
  • Degree of permanent impairment

Medical Reports

A comprehensive medical report is sent to all parties within 10 days.
